Statement from the Board of the European Progressive Rabbinic Assembly on the news that the bill to ban Kosher and Halal slaughter in Brussels has failed.

“We are relieved that the parliament of the Brussels-Capital Region has voted to scrap a bill that would have outlawed the Kosher and Halal slaughter of animals. The bill would have made life difficult for observant Jews and Muslims and the scrapping of the bill is a victory for religious freedom.”
